Are we educated?

Are we deeply educated?

Are we educated? You my have a degree, BA, MA, or FBA, or whatever it is, failed BA, you know, all that kind of stuff. You might have all those degrees, are you educated? You may be able to read and write, go to the office, have a job, earn a livelihood and so on. But are you deeply educated? Or you are only educated a very small part of the brain. So that that training gives you a livelihood, a skill and the rest you neglected totally. So are we educated? Answer this question,  put to yourself these questions.

~Jiddu Krishnamurti

Education System

An Overview

"True education is fundamentally an act of personal transformation rather than a transactional acquisition of skills or credentials. While modern systems often treat learning as a marketplace commodity or a mere stepping stone to employment, its profoundest value lies in an inward, enduring journey of character development. Through quiet persistence, a learner does not simply collect information, but deeply confronts, absorbs, and embodies enduring human values—shifting the goal of education from what one knows to who one becomes."

Core Pillars of the Philosophy:

To fully unpack this perspective, the statement relies on three central shifts in thinking:

  • From Transaction to Transformation: It rejects the consumerist model of education (paying tuition to receive a product/job) and instead frames it as a deeply personal evolution.
  • From Outward Gain to Inward Journey: It shifts the focus from external metrics—like grades, degrees, and salaries—to internal growth, self-reflection, and moral alignment.
  • From Information to Embodiment: It emphasizes that true learning isn't just memorizing facts or rules; it requires "quiet endurance" to internalize knowledge until it manifests naturally in one's actions and values.

"Education is not a marketplace where knowledge is traded, nor merely a pathway paved for employment; it is a long, inward journey—a quiet endurance through which one confronts, absorbs, and ultimately embodies human values.

"Education, in the truest self of the term, is a process of self-discovery. It is the art of self-sculpture. It trains the individual not so much in specific skills or in specific branch of knowledge, but in the flowering of his or her latent intellectual, artistic and humanist capacities."
